Daniel Rich has signed on for another year at the Brisbane Lions.

The booming left-footer has put pen-to-paper on a deal that will see him locked away until the end of 2022.

The West-Australian has often been linked to a possible return home but has committed his future to the Lions, who drafted him way back in 2008.

Rich has become one of the game's most damaging half-backs over the past three seasons and has made a blistering start to his 2021 campaign.

Rich said to the Brisbane Lions' club website that a move back home was never on the cards.

“This club has been my home for a long time, and I’ve never considered going anywhere else,’’ he said.

“I love the Club, I love my teammates and I’m still as excited and proud to be a Lion as the day I walked into the place.

“I think we’ve got a great list, terrific coaching and support staff and I’m excited about what lies ahead.

“I really believe this group can achieve something special and it means a lot to me to know I have the opportunity to be a part of that.’’

Lions General Manager of Football Danny Daly said Rich had become a leader at the club and was a key part of the Lions' success over recent years.

“Daniel is entering veteran status now, but his contribution has never been more important,’’ he said.

“He’s returned to the leadership group this season and the experience he brings to that role is invaluable.

“And the consistency of his performances on the field is something we know we can depend on.

“He’s an important part of our side and a key figure at our Club.’’

Rich is set to feature for Brisbane in their Round 5 clash against Essendon on Saturday night.
