Brisbane midfielder Jarrod Berry has seen his one-game suspension for making unnecessary or unreasonable contact to the eye region of Melbourne's Clayton Oliver overturned at the AFL Tribunal.

Tuesday night's hearing saw Berry contest his charge, which was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact by the Match Review Officer, a view that resulted in a one-game ban.

The incident in question occurred in the third quarter of last Friday night's semi-final between Brisbane and Melbourne, with Berry and Oliver grappling in the centre of the MCG when contact to the latter's eye region was made by Berry's left hand.

It was of the AFL Tribunal's view that Berry's actions were not as originally charged, seeing the suspension which had been levelled against him overturned.

In having his suspension overturned, Berry will be able to feature in Friday night's preliminary final clash against Geelong at the MCG.

In instructions given to the tribunal, they were told that even if Berry's actions were found to be unreasonable or unnecessary, they would still downgrade the charge from intentional conduct to careless conduct in deliberations.
