Triple M's Hot Breakfast chief footy reporter Tom Browne believes Geelong great Gary Ablett is leaning towards playing on next year.

"I've heard from Gary Ablett's friends that he's leaning towards wanting to play on," Browne said.

"Still no official announcement there from Geelong as yet...he'll have to get it through Chris Scott and whether Geelong want to have one last roll of the dice with this older group."

Ablett's manager Liam Pickering believes the 35-year old could well play on in 2020.

Pickering told SEN Breakfast Ablett always intended to wait until the end of the season to discuss his future in footy, and now the Cats season is finished they will catch up this week.

The decision is entirely up to Ablett, Pickering admitted.

"You don't give them advice. If he reckons he can go around again, he should go around again," Pickering told SEN Breakfast.

"His body's good. I don't think there's any injuries or anything like that...he could definitely play on another year."

Ablett has played 345 games for Geelong and Gold Coast in a career that has yielded two Brownlow Medals, two premierships and a record eight All-Australian selections.
