Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has stated the Dockers will not "overreact" with their selection calls after a disappointing 78-point Round 1 defeat to Geelong.

The Dockers were comprehensively outplayed by the Cats and were unable to control the tempo, save for a six-minute purple patch in the third term from debutant Murphy Reid.

Longmuir admitted the Dockers came into the clash underprepared and "weren't tough enough" in the contest.

However, in their chance to rebound against 2024 runners-up Sydney, Longmuir won't make any major changes.

Dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe will once again continue his stint in the WAFL for Peel Thunder as he builds his match fitness.

"We probably feel Fyfe just needs another game (for Peel Thunder)," Longmuir said.

"We wanna make sure we build his resilience up, and his body and he finds form, and not only find form but gets the game time up. So he'll get another full game in the WAFL."

Defender James Aish may be an inclusion this Sunday, while Patrick Voss, who travelled with the team to Geelong last week is also "in the mix".

"Yeah, he is in the mix, 'Aishy's' form been solid, he's not far off, he's just down the pecking order a little bit at the moment," Longmuir said.

"He's not far away."

Trade recruit Shai Bolton's debut may finally arrive this weekend after missing Round 1, however Longmuir suggests he'll have to complete a full main training unimpacted if he is to be selected.

If Bolton can step into the side, Longmuir assures he'll play out the entire match, but may have his role adjusted to potentially ease him back.

"(Bolton) needs to do full main training and feel comfortable. There's positive signs but until he gets some load in we're a little unsure how he'll react," Longmuir said.

"We'll probably have to manipulate his role a little bit to what we were doing pre-season and what we had planned, but we think he'll be right for four quarters and we'll get him into the team.

"It will be nice to get him out there, get his career (at Fremantle) underway, [but] we'll see how he goes at training."
