Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.

One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.

Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.

Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.

While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.

1. Buddy's mid-season miracle vs the Bombers (Round 13, 2010)

What else was going to take the number one spot on this list?!

Franklin's remarkable running goal against Cale Hooker and the Bombers that starts on the MCG wing before he slots the goal from a tight angle will forever be remembered.

The 2010 Goal of the Year winner took place three minutes after Franklin kicked an eerily similar goal in the exact same fashion, that has been mostly forgotten due to the goal that followed.

Midway through the final term, Franklin raced onto the loose footy ahead of the Bomber's Cale Hooker, who could only grimace as he failed to keep up with the mercurial forward. Franklin took three bounces, before slotting the ball through the middle while being tight on the boundary line.

Once again accompanied by some classic Dennis Commetti commentary, the goal levelled the scores at 79 apiece, before the Hawks eventually stormed home to a 16-point win.

As we look forward to Buddy's 1000th goal, this is easily the pick of the bunch from an incredible career from the spearhead.
