Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.

One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.

Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.

Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.

While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.

7. Franklin's beauty vs Bulldogs in Week 1 of 2008 Finals (Qualifying Final, 2008)

Picking just one goal from Franklin's eight kicked against the Bulldogs is a task in itself but it was his seventh that stood above the pack.

Already cruising to a big victory over the Bulldogs in Week 1 of the 2008 Finals Series, Buddy Franklin decided to make a lasting memory for Hawks Fans as he slotted an absolute stunner at the MCG early in the fourth quarter.

Jostling in a one-on-one on the half-forward flank with the Bulldogs' Brian Lake, Franklin taps the ball to his advantage, gathers and swings onto his booming left foot, sending a massive kick through the middle of the big sticks.

The Hawks would comfortably dispatch the Bulldogs by 51 points, sending them to a preliminary final. Hawthorn would go on to win the 2008 Premiership flag, Franklin's first of his career, as Alastair Clarkson began his era of dominance.
