Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.

One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.

Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.

Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.

While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.

5. Crowd frenzy as Franklin kicks goal number 100 for season 2008 (Round 22, 2008)

The last man to achieve this feat in the AFL, Buddy Franklin produced the impossible when he kicked his 100th goal in the 2008 AFL season.

Late in the first quarter, Cyril Rioli hit Franklin lace out 25 metres out from goal. As the crowd began to rise, Franklin ran in to slot goal number 100 before a sea of fans stormed the field.

The Telstra Dome was rocking as Franklin and his teammates were mobbed by hundreds of fans in crazy scenes. Franklin's rare feat has not been achieved since and it is highly unlikely to happen again.
