Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.

One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.

Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.

Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.

While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.

4. Buddy crushes Crows with clutch elimination final goal (elimination final, 2007)

In the final moments of the Hawks' epic Elimination Final contest against the Crows in 2007, Buddy Franklin stepped up with an epic goal from outside 50.

Franklin had already slotted six goals that day, but as Franklin marked 50 metres from goal, the Hawks were behind by three points to the Crows.

Franklin swung around on his left boot before unleashing a brilliant kick that sailed straight through the goals, putting the Hawks in front with seconds left. The crowd's reaction and the commentary make this goal even more special for AFL fans.

The Crows had led for most of the game and Franklin's goal propelled the Hawks to a fantastic comeback win.
