Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.

One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.

Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.

Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.

While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.

3. The famous 'hurdle' goal (Round 3, 2013)

A classic that stemmed from a swift 12-second end-to-end move, Franklin's famous hurdle goal against the Magpies in 2013 resulted in his second Goal of the Year Award.

With the Hawks in the lead by six points midway through the third quarter, Franklin produced an incredibly athletic finish from the centre square that gave the Hawks some breathing room and ultimately helped them to a 55-point victory.

Brent Guerra launched a torpedo into the middle of the ground, which was marked by Ben Stratton who, as he was being tackled, released a handball to Franklin. Franklin hurdled over Stratton and his opponent before unleashing a monster kick that bounced through.

This beauty lives long in the memory of footy fans and the mention of 'hurdle' goal is enough to make anyone remember that special moment.
