Lance 'Buddy' Franklin is set to become just the sixth man in AFL/VFL history to kick 1000 career goals and etch his name amongst the greats of the game.
One of the best players to grace the AFL, Franklin is just four goals away from becoming the first man in over 20 years to reach the incredible milestone.
Franklin's impact on the game will most likely never be seen again, as he is also the most recent player to kick 100 goals in an AFL season.
Spanning over 17 years, we look back at the mercurial forward's top 10 goals from his decorated career with Hawthorn and Sydney.
While Franklin has kicked many unbelievable goals throughout his career, this list considers the impact of the goals on top of the freakish talent he possesses.
The Swans travelled to the 'G in Round 9 to play Hawthorn in a tense clash as both sides aimed to keep their place in the Top 8.
With 13 minutes left on the clock and the Swans leading by nine points, Hawks ruckman Jonathon Ceglar turned the ball over and the Swans launched a swift counterattack. Swans ruckman Callum Sinclair marked the ball 80 metres out from goal and quickly gave the ball off to Franklin.
In typical Buddy fashion, Franklin swivelled, took a few steps before launching a long bomb from 70 metres that bounced through, giving the Swans a 15-point lead and sending Swan fans into raptures.
Franklin's goal against his former team was one of three as the Swans went on to win by 14 points.
The most recent goal on this list, the Swans faced an undefeated Giants side in the Battle of the Bridge in Round 3, 2018. For his standards, Franklin was having a quiet night with no goals to his name as the siren crept closer.
With the Swans up by 10 points with five minutes left, Franklin received the ball in the middle of the ground before fending off Giants defender Nick Haynes with ease before running onto his favoured left side and launching a 60-metre kick that dribbles through.
The goal, accompanied by some classic Anthony Hudson commentary calling Buddy the 'greatest showman', had AFL fans alike on their feet as the Swans ultimately defeated the Giants by 16 points.
The Swans faced a tough challenge in Round 13, 2014, facing top-of-the-ladder Port Adelaide at the SCG.
The Swans found themselves one point up with 10 minutes remaining when Franklin marked uncontested, roughly 70 metres out from goal. Buddy quickly played on and slotted the long bomb through the goals, extending the Swans lead to seven points.
A mere two minutes later, Franklin found himself producing the miraculous yet again. He gathered the ball on the right half-forward flank, split the gap between two Power defenders before kicking another goal from the 50-metre line.

The Swans ended the game as victors by four points as Franklin's ridiculous two-minute frenzy will be remembered for a very long time in the AFL.
Picking just one goal from Franklin's eight kicked against the Bulldogs is a task in itself but it was his seventh that stood above the pack.
Already cruising to a big victory over the Bulldogs in Week 1 of the 2008 Finals Series, Buddy Franklin decided to make a lasting memory for Hawks Fans as he slotted an absolute stunner at the MCG early in the fourth quarter.
Jostling in a one-on-one on the half-forward flank with the Bulldogs' Brian Lake, Franklin taps the ball to his advantage, gathers and swings onto his booming left foot, sending a massive kick through the middle of the big sticks.

The Hawks would comfortably dispatch the Bulldogs by 51 points, sending them to a preliminary final. Hawthorn would go on to win the 2008 Premiership flag, Franklin's first of his career, as Alastair Clarkson began his era of dominance.
In a match that Hawthorn supporters would largely want to forget, Franklin produced a special goal from the boundary line with three minutes left to give the Hawks the lead back in the 2011 Preliminary Final.
The Hawks, who were up by 17 points at the final break, faced an almighty comeback from the reigning premiers who found themselves with a two-point lead with just minutes left.
Enter Buddy Franklin.
A long, sweeping ball from Ryan Schoenmakers bounced its way inside the Hawks' forward 50 in the direction of Franklin, who turned Pies defender Chris Tarrant inside out before slotting an outside of the boot dribbler through the big sticks. The stunning goal gave the Hawks a four-point lead.
However thanks to a last-minute snap goal from Pies midfielder Luke Ball, the Pies were ultimately the victors, leading them to a second consecutive Grand Final.
The last man to achieve this feat in the AFL, Buddy Franklin produced the impossible when he kicked his 100th goal in the 2008 AFL season.
Late in the first quarter, Cyril Rioli hit Franklin lace out 25 metres out from goal. As the crowd began to rise, Franklin ran in to slot goal number 100 before a sea of fans stormed the field.

Franklin had already slotted six goals that day, but as Franklin marked 50 metres from goal, the Hawks were behind by three points to the Crows.
Franklin swung around on his left boot before unleashing a brilliant kick that sailed straight through the goals, putting the Hawks in front with seconds left. The crowd's reaction and the commentary make this goal even more special for AFL fans.
The Crows had led for most of the game and Franklin's goal propelled the Hawks to a fantastic comeback win.
A classic that stemmed from a swift 12-second end-to-end move, Franklin's famous hurdle goal against the Magpies in 2013 resulted in his second Goal of the Year Award.
With the Hawks in the lead by six points midway through the third quarter, Franklin produced an incredibly athletic finish from the centre square that gave the Hawks some breathing room and ultimately helped them to a 55-point victory.
Brent Guerra launched a torpedo into the middle of the ground, which was marked by Ben Stratton who, as he was being tackled, released a handball to Franklin. Franklin hurdled over Stratton and his opponent before unleashing a monster kick that bounced through.
This beauty lives long in the memory of footy fans and the mention of 'hurdle' goal is enough to make anyone remember that special moment.
Another iconic AFL moment from the last decade, Franklin himself outscored a poor North Melbourne side, 13.4 (82) to the Kangaroos' 9.5 (59) in a historic scoring day for Franklin.
The Hawks crushed the Kangaroos by 115 points in Launceston, as Franklin kicked goal number 13 just as the final siren sounded.
With six seconds left to play, the Hawks went inside 50 one last time. Buddy lost his marker, picked up the half-volley before quickly snapping truly as time expired, finishing with 13 goals for the match.
The goal is accompanied by more iconic Anthony Hudson commentary, who excitedly yells "Thirteen! Thirteeen!", as the ball sails through the posts.
While this is not Franklin's best goal ability-wise, the final haul of 13 goals paired with the commentary makes this a classic and definitely one of Franklin's iconic moments.
What else was going to take the number one spot on this list?!
Franklin's remarkable running goal against Cale Hooker and the Bombers that starts on the MCG wing before he slots the goal from a tight angle will forever be remembered.
The 2010 Goal of the Year winner took place three minutes after Franklin kicked an eerily similar goal in the exact same fashion, that has been mostly forgotten due to the goal that followed.
Midway through the final term, Franklin raced onto the loose footy ahead of the Bomber's Cale Hooker, who could only grimace as he failed to keep up with the mercurial forward. Franklin took three bounces, before slotting the ball through the middle while being tight on the boundary line.
Once again accompanied by some classic Dennis Commetti commentary, the goal levelled the scores at 79 apiece, before the Hawks eventually stormed home to a 16-point win.
As we look forward to Buddy's 1000th goal, this is easily the pick of the bunch from an incredible career from the spearhead.
