Western Bulldogs defenders James O'Donnell and Lachie Bramble have extended their contracts with the Dogs, solidifying their commitment to the club.
Although already under contract until the end of next year, O'Donnell was offered a two-year extension that sees him through to the end of 2027. Bramble, having impressed in all 25 games of the Bulldogs season, has been rewarded with a two-year extension, expiring in 2026.
After being delisted by Hawthorn at the end of 2023, Bramble was offered a lifeline by the Dogs and quickly became an important part of the team's rotation since Round 1. He averaged just under 19 disposals a game and finished seventh in the club's best and fairest.
O'Donnell was pursuing a career in cricket before switching back to AFL and being signed as a category B rookie in 2023. He is the son and grandson of two former AFL players - Simon and Kevin O'Donnell, who each played for St Kilda.
The 197cm defender has developed well, playing 26 games throughout his career and may soon find himself as the Dogs' number one key defender.
Sam Power, the Bulldogs General Manager of List Management and Recruiting is keen to have the pair sticking around the club.
โJames has shown significant growth since coming into our program 18 months ago,โ he said.
โHe has played important roles on good players in defence, displaying athleticism and competitiveness across a variety of opponents.
โLachy hasn't put a foot wrong since crossing from Hawthorn - a top ten finish in the Charles Sutton Medal and consistent performances throughout the year has been pleasing for him.
โBoth players are great characters and have become popular members of the locker room over their time at the Bulldogs.โ
The Bulldogs will face North Melbourne in Round 1 of the 2025 season with a home game at Marvel Stadium.
