We all hate it when someone plans their wedding on Grand Final weekend, but when a player does it, it is just ridiculous.
Western Bulldogs' forward Stewart Carmeri and his partner Jess, have found themselves in hot water after scheduling their wedding on the Friday night before Grand Final day.
Crameri's Bulldogs teammates who were invited to the wedding have told the 28-year-old they will be unable to attend.
He can perhaps be excused slightly given he knew he would not be playing at all this year due to his 12-month ban for his part in Essendon's supplements saga, however, it sends a poor message to teammates, coaches and fans, indicating that perhaps he did not back his side to have the ability to make it to the big dance.
However, regardless of whether his side is in the Grand Final or not, it is still an incredibly bizarre decision for an AFL player.
Crameri has been heavily criticised, with former Melbourne star and SEN radio presenter, David Schwarz, slamming the scheduling.
“That is ridiculous,” Schwarz said.
“I’ll tell you how ridiculous this is. This is a man who plays in the AFL, that allowed his wedding to be held on grand final eve.
“He’s got 40 mates from two clubs that are part of the AFL system. Why would you be getting married on grand final eve? Who gets married on grand final eve anyway?”
Schwarz was not the only media personality to disagree with he decision to plan the wedding before the biggest day of the year on the AFL calendar.
