Fill-in Western Bulldogs captain Jason Johannisen says he's better equipped to overcome any future tags after he "conceded" last week in the Bulldogs clash with Hawthorn.
Johannisen will take charge for Saturday's match up with Melbourne at the MCG in the absence of vice-captain Marcus Bontempelli (appendix) and regular skipper Easton Wood (hamstring)
This weekend's contest will also represent his 100th game, and Johannisen has spent the week working on his footballing deficiencies.
Last round against Hawthorn, Johannisen was completely closed out of the Bulldogs second-half downfall. But he admits it isn't the first time he's been tagged out from a game.
Against the Hawks, he landed 25 disposals in a cracking opening half, but Hawthorn youngster Harry Morrison held him to just the seven touches after the halftime break.
"I thought I had a lot of impact in the first half and unfortunately dropped away," Johannisen told AFL.com.au.
"Looking at the vision with (defensive coach) Steven King, there's some ways I can stay involved in the game, so I'm going to look forward to bringing that this week.
"Probably using my strengths a bit more, I conceded a little bit (last week). I'm going to use my speed and my work rate to push to as many contests as I can to try and impact."
The 2016 Norm Smith medallist is averaging 20 disposals this season, having played all 15 games. He has been used as a utility player for the duration of the season, having played across half forward, midfield and half back.
Following his outstanding efforts in the 2016 premiership, many clubs have physically followed Johannisen.
"When I first came here (Whitten Oval) I didn't think I could play one game. I didn't really feel like I belonged here. I was such a raw player," Johannisen said.
"Coming into this football club, I never thought it could happen. Even to play one game and now 100 and captain, it will be really special.
"A lot of people have supported me, especially (assistant coach) Rohan Smith, he's someone who's really helped my development and he was able to get me to the next level."
This weekend's clash will mark the first time the Dogs play on the MCG this season, and just their third game at the ground since the 2016 flag win.
