West Coast are set to be without captain Luke Shuey for the beginning of the season after the star midfielder suffered a low grade hamstring injury, per 7 News' Ryan Daniels.
Shuey has faced a calf complaint throughout the pre-season and is one of several key Eagles battling injuries ahead of the club's clash against Gold Coast in eight days time.

The 30-year-old has had a history of hamstring setbacks and is now expected to miss close to three weeks of action with his latest injury.

Star duo Tim Kelly (thumb) and Josh Kennedy (calf) are expected to be fit to face the Suns next Sunday at Optus Stadium.
Forward trio Jake Waterman (back), Zac Langdon (concussion) and Bailey Williams are currently under injury clouds, while veteran mark Hutchings will remain on the sidelines for the next month.
