As per Dale Thomas' request, Carlton have agreed to remove a clause in his contract pertaining to his playing future.

The clause was believed to be a games total that would trigger a contract extension for Thomas in 2018, with the magic number for Daisy reportedly set at 15 games.

With Thomas' contract dominating the headlines in recent weeks, the 29-year-old approached Carlton management after being dropped to the VFL two weeks ago, and asked for the clause to be removed.

โ€œAcknowledging that we as a club do not publicly comment on the nature of player contracts, Dale has selflessly put the club first in this situation,โ€ Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni said.

โ€œPleasingly for Dale, he will now be able to go out and play football without the constant, external commentary around the nature of his contract.โ€

This season is Thomas' fourth at Carlton, and the midfielder has player 48 times for the Blues since making the move from Collingwood at the end of the 2013 season.
