The Blues are reportedly closing in on a deal to extend the contract of second-year player Charlie Curnow.

AFL.com.au believe Curnow is close to signing a two-year extension, which would see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2019.

The younger brother of Blues midfielder Ed, Charlie has begun 2017 in strong form after making his debut last season and playing six games.

The 20-year-old has missed just one game so far this year, and is averaging 12 disposals and five marks a game.

Curnow would be just one of many players Carlton hope to re-sign this season, with over half of their list yet to be contracted beyond this season.

Charlie's brother Ed is one player who's future remains in doubt, as well as Matthew Kreuzer, Levi Casboult and Dale Thomas, all of whom are free agents.
