Carlton have confirmed a blow for hamstrung defender Lachie Cowan, who will miss up to six weeks of action following his setback from Thursday's loss to Collingwood.
Cowan was subbed out of the contest in the early stages of the game due to the hamstring injury, with scans since showing a strain that will sideline the Tasmanian for at least a month.
"Carlton defender Lachie Cowan is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with a hamstring injury," a club update read.
"Cowan was subbed out in the first quarter of Thursday night's game, with scans confirming a strain to his left hamstring.
"He will commence his rehabilitation with the Club to assess his progress in a month."
The injury adds to the 0-4 Blues' woes to start the year, with Marc Pittonet (calf), Orazio Fantasia (calf) and Alex Cincotta (hip) currently sidelined for the coming weeks.
Carlton are also without Jagga Smith (knee) for the rest of the season, while Nic Newman (knee) remains hopeful of a late-season return.
The Blues could be buoyed by the potential returns of Harry McKay and Elijah Hollands for their Round 5 clash with West Coast, with the duo returning to action via the VFL this weekend after periods away from the club due to personal reasons.
Carlton head to South Australia next week as part of the Gather Round schedule, with their meeting with West Coast, who are also yet to record a win, coming next Saturday at Adelaide Oval.
