Carlton are expecting to gain a double boost to their forward line for this weekend's matchup with the Suns, while defender Sam Docherty remains in the selection mix after suffering a knock to the calf over the weekend.

The Blues are likely to have both Harry McKay and Jack Silvagni available for selection to face Gold Coast, with McKay's return to full training and recovery from his knee injury coming well ahead of schedule.

Silvagni's own knee issue has been cleared, with the father-son Blue and McKay both expected to be available to Michael Voss for Round 23 as Carlton looks to cement their finals return.

McKay was initially expected to spend the end of the home and away season on the sidelines after undergoing an arthroscope on his knee midway through last month, facing up to eight weeks out of action.

The Coleman Medal winner will now be able to ease back into playing across the final two weeks of the season before a week's rest and then into finals.

The Blues could also have Docherty available this week after the veteran backman was subbed out of his side's win over Melbourne due to a calf issue. The club confirmed on Monday night that the 29-year-old will be assessed later in the week, with a call to be made on his availability in due course.

Small forward Corey Durdin is also a test for this week due to a shoulder issue.

Carlton won't have hamstrung trio, Sam Walsh, Adam Cerra and Mitch McGovern available to face the Suns, with the Blues aiming for all three players to be available next week for the club's Round 24 matchup with GWS.

Midfielder Matt Kennedy could also be available to face the Giants next week as he looks to return from a knee injury.

Carlton could be near full fitness come finals, with only defender Zac Williams (knee) and ruckman Alex Mirkov (medical) the only other players listed on their medical report heading into the final fortnight of the season. Both Williams and Mirkov have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Carton face Gold Coast at Heritage Bank Stadium on Saturday at 2:10pm (AEST).
