The Carlton Football Club have confirmed that a member of the AFLW playing roster has tested positive to Covid-19.

In a brief statement released on Wednesday evening, the club stated that the unnamed athlete had received both of their vaccinations but failed a Rapid Antigen Test while attempting to enter training at Princes Park.

The individual was then said to have undertaken off-site testing to confirm the accuracy of the initial reading.

As the PCR testing return a second positive result, the anonymous member of Daniel Harford's squad has commenced a 14-day stint in solo isolation.

Although a fellow member of the Blues' AFLW collective had been in close contact with the Covid positive player, their own secondary testing returned a negative result.

However, they themselves will remain in isolation for a seven-day period.

Carlton also wished to stress that the infected party had not entered the Royal Parade facility at any stage.

Given this, the doors will remain open to players and officials so long as negative on-site tests are provided.

The aforementioned statement also reiterated that each and every member of the club's AFLW program had received both doses of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccine.

Still, the same cannot be said for Carlton's list of male players as it had also been announced within the past 24-hours that defender Liam Jones is reportedly unwilling to be immunised against the virus.ย

The Blues are not the first AFLW program to face viral interruptions, with Richmond's program having already overcome a Covid scare in mid-October.ย
