Eight players across the AFL are said to have been promoted to their respective club's primary list for the 2025 season after serving as rookie-listed players in recent seasons.
Clubs can promote players from the rookie list to their main squad, while the AFL lifted the maximum number of years a player can serve on the rookie list from three to five.
Players who have spent three seasons on the rookie list can trigger a fourth year if they have played less than ten games at AFL level, while the same trigger can be met for fourth-year rookies into a fifth season.
A handful of AFL players on rookie lists have been promoted to senior lists as part of the off-season's list changes ahead of this month's National Draft, with eight players across six clubs earning primary list spots, perย AFL.com.au.
Among the list is Carlton defender Jordan Boyd, who played 19 games under senior coach Michael Voss this year to bring his career tally to 35 matches since joining the Blues out of Footscray midway through the 2021 season.
Melbourne have promoted young defender Judd McVee and veteran Jake Melksham to the primary list as well following the 2024 season.
Eight players have been registered by their club to be promoted from the rookie to senior list (more can also follow).

Further players could earn similar promotions in the coming weeks as clubs shape their lists ahead of the draft window.
The National Draft will take place on November 20-21, with the Rookie Draft following on the 22nd.
A total of 16 players have been delisted but will be recruited back to their clubs via the Rookie Draft, with that crop consisting of Chris Burgess (Adelaide), Harry Schoenberg (Adelaide), Darragh Joyce (Brisbane), Darcy Craven (Brisbane), Oleg Markov (Collingwood), Ashley Johnson (Collingwood), Max Knobel (Fremantle), Lachlan Keeffe (GWS), Josh Fahey (GWS), Jacob Wehr (GWS), Jack Gunston (Hawthorn), Toby Pink (North Melbourne), Brad Crouch (St Kilda), Aaron Francis (Sydney), Joel Hamling (Sydney) and Mate Colina (Richmond).
