Carlton defender Alex Cincotta has signed on to be at the Blues for another year.

Cincotta came to IKON Park last year via the 2023 Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period to help fill the hole of Zac Williams, who was out injured for the season.

Cincotta has played 25 AFL games and kicked six goals in his short AFL-level career.

The 27-year-old, who debuted in Round 6 last year and played 19 games in his first season, started in the VFL this year and had to wait two months until he could play senior footy, but has now played every game since Round 8.

The defender is known for his selfless attitude, defensive ability and speed out of defence. Cincotta also adds real versatility for the Blues as he has shown he can play any position required of him, recently having spells in the middle of the ground.

This was seen on the weekend when Cincotta showed his team-first attitude by stepping up and kicking two goals for the Blues in the final term to help secure the win over the Bombers.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said his attitude is a key reason why he has earned another deal to remain at the navy blue.

“The way in which Alex's football journey has unfolded, he has developed a great ability to stay ready, for whenever an opportunity comes his way,” said Austin.

“That mentality is a credit to him, and a key reason why he has earned his place in the side.

“This playing group is taking great pride in establishing a reputation of being selfless and committing everything to their specific role in the team – Alex is a great example of that, and we are pleased to see him earn another year in the Navy Blue jumper.”

Carlton have their season bye this weekend and will return in Round 15 against Geelong.
