Carlton have appointed a new high-performance boss, poaching Rob Inness from the Sydney Swans ahead of the 2025 season.

Inness has been with Sydney for four years as the club's head of athletic performance and will join the Blues following the Swans' finals campaign.

He moved to New South Wales after holding down multiple roles with Richmond, who Inness joined in 2013, seeing success across both tenures with the Tigers and Swans.

“Rob's resume speaks for itself in terms of the results he has been able to consistently produce in the high-performance space for over a decade now,” Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd said in a club statement.

“Rob has been an integral part of programs that have produced sustained consistency year on year, and he will bring that wealth of experience to our football club.

“There are few in the AFL who are as highly credentialed and held in the regard that Rob is, so we are delighted he has committed to come to Carlton and be part of what we are looking to build on in the coming years.”

The appointment of Inness comes after the recent departure of former Blues high-performance lead Andrew Rusell was confirmed last month.

Carlton have dealt with extensive injury concerns across the course of the year, made evident by their lengthy list of players in the club's casualty ward ahead of their first final this weekend against Brisbane.
