Scans have cleared Carlton forward Zac Williams of any serious setback following an Achilles concern from Friday's loss to the Western Bulldogs, however the 30-year-old is no certainty of suiting up for Round 4.
Williams was subbed out of the eight-point loss to the Dogs following a marking contest that left the former Giant in some pain and holding his ankle.
The Blues were quick to sub the veteran out of the game and bring tactical sub Jordan Boyd into the match, with the club taking a cautious approach given Williams' injury history.
Coach Michael Voss believed the concern to be on the "very, very minor" end post-game, with Williams since undergoing scans and avoiding a worrying setback.
The Blues confirmed on Saturday that Williams will need to be assessed further ahead of Thursday's matchup with Collingwood at the MCG in what shapes as a crucial game for a winless Carlton outfit.
Captain Patrick Cripps managed to see out the loss to the Dogs despite a mid-game concern, with Voss playing down any injury worries surrounding the two-time Brownlow Medal winner.
"He finished off the game. So other than being a bit sore, I think he's fine," Voss said.
Fringe small forward Corey Durdin could be in the mix for Round 4 as he eyes a return from an ankle injury, while fellow ground level threat Orazio Fantasia is close to a fortnight away with his calf issue.
It is unclear if key forward Harry McKay will be available for the Magpies game as he continues to deal with personal matters.
Carlton, who are yet to record a win from their three games to start the season, will face a 2-1 Collingwood side coming off their early season bye when the two clubs meet at the MCG next week.
