Former Kangaroo and Bulldog Lachie Young has signed a deal with Carlton's reserves for the 2024 season.
The former AFL footballer played 47 games across five years in the system, his most recent appearance being in Round 20 of the 2023 season in a loss against the West Coast Eagles.
The defender was drafted to the Western Bulldogs in the 2018 Rookie Draft at Pick 6. He only managed eight senior games before being traded to North Melbourne at the end of the 2020 season.
For the Kangaroos, Young played 39 games for the Roos before ultimately being delisted at the end of the 2023 season.
Carlton's VFL coach Luke Power provided plenty of praise for the 189cm defender, making note of his versatility.
“Lachie brings a great playing capability to our side; his athleticism allows him to play both on the wing and across the back line, which will add great depth to our team,” Power said via the clubs' website.
“We are excited that Lachie has chosen to sign with Carlton. It is a great testament to the quality program and facilities we offer here at the Blues: I am sure he will enjoy his time here.”
Young isn't the first player to join Carlton's reserves in the off-season, with former Eagle and Tiger Patrick Naish joining the Blues after playing 20 games across four years in the AFL.
