Carlton defender Nic Newman has committed to the club for two more years to be penned to the Blues until the end of 2025.
Since crossing from the Sydney Swans to Carlton at the end of 2018, Newman has become a staple of the Blues' backline, averaging 20.7 disposals for the 2023 season.
Newman reached the 100-game milestone against Fremantle two weeks ago, with the 2022 Best Clubman celebrating the occasion with 23 disposals, 11 marks and three tackles to be ranked as one of Carlton's best.
Carlton Head of List Management, Nick Austin, said that the contract extension recognises how well-respected Newman is amongst the football club.
"Nic has had a terrific season, building from the real consistency he showed last year, so we are so excited to see him continue his commitment to the Club," Austin said in a club announcement.
"Nic had a solid pre-season and it is exciting to see his efforts rewarded so far this year. His passion for the game and his teammates is evident every time he steps onto the field, it is underrated the standards he helps set in leading by example for us.
"He is a natural leader both on the field and off and it has been inspiring to see him take the younger players under his wing, educating and coaching them to not only be better individual players but also great teammates.
"Nic is the exact player you want to help build a strong, sustainable culture at your football club."
Carlton will play West Coast this weekend as they search for their fifth win in a row and a place in the top eight.
