With trade period just a week away, the Gold Coast Suns could pick up four valuable players that could easily slot straight into their best 22 for the 2019 season.
According to NAB AFL Trade Radio's Sam McClure, three fringe Richmond Tigers and one Geelong Cat could be on their way to Surfers Paradise.
Corey Ellis, Jacob Townsend and Anthony Miles could be in red and yellow next season, but it's George Horlin-Smith from Geelong who's the huge name in the mix.
“It’s done. (Horlin-Smith) is going there (Gold Coast),” McClure told Trade Radio.
Despite all the big names suggested to be heading for the door at the Gold Coast, McClure said he believes the Suns are still in a strong position this trade season.
“They have pick 18 from West Coast, pick 26 from Essendon and pick 29 was on-traded from Geelong,” McClure said.
“On top of that, they’ve got their own picks of two, 38, 41, 74 and you add in the compensation for Tom Lynch, pick three.
“If they’re getting in the door picks two and three, then I think they’ve got what they wanted out of the draft, plus a couple of late picks they can on-trade to get ready-made players.
“If they get those three Richmond players, plus George Horlin-Smith, who won’t cost them much.
“There’s four players starting in their 18 next year, plus picks two and three. It’s not all dark skies at the Suns.”
The Gold Coast might have a fight on their hands to secure Townsend however, after it was reported on Monday St Kilda are also being linked to him.
