Geelong star Olivia Purcell has suffered a ruptured ACL and will miss the rest of the AFLW season.

Purcell sustained the injury in the second term in the Cat's 47-point loss to Richmond on Friday night.

The 20-year-old was named in the All Australian team in 2019 and was one of the shining lights in the Cats 2021 campaign.

The Cats sit 13th on the table without a win in five games.

They next face Carlton at Ikon Park on Sunday, March 7.
