Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps has categorically rejected reporting on the club's board becoming involved in Dan Houston trade discussions.

Before the three-club, five-player mega trade was officially confirmed on Tuesday; reports indicated that the Power's hierarchy vetoed the move as it is understood they wanted more value from the deal.

The key elements of the trade are as follows:

Collingwood: Acquires Dan Houston and Pick 58.

Gold Coast: Receives John Noble, a future first-round pick from Port Adelaide, a future first-round pick from Collingwood, and Pick 39.

Port Adelaide: Gains Jack LukosiusJoe RichardsRory Atkins, and Picks 13, 29, 36, and 50.

Port Adelaide's football committee led the negotiations, which include three board members – JAM TV chief executive Cos Cardone, premiership captain Warren Tredrea and former football operations manager Rob Snowdon – along with football boss Chris Davies and ex-skipper Dom Cassisi, with Cripps denying the involvement of the board.

"That's categorically incorrect," Cripps said on 3AW.

"We have a list management committee. We meet regularly throughout the season. We explored all opportunities all deals. And the list management committee decided that we wanted to seek or obtain further information on deals."

The Power list manager revealed that the Alberton club was exploring Carlton's Picks 12 and 14, given their interest in Houston as well as North Melbourne's desire to bring him to Arden Street.

The Blues had since traded the pair of first-round picks for West Coast's Pick 3 in a three-club deal with Richmond that saw Liam Baker and Matt Owies land at the Eagles.

And as for the Suns, Power and Pies mega-trade, the deal remained intact.

"It certainly didn't fall apart," Cripps added.

"What we were presented with last night (Monday) with our list management committee, we were looking at various options that were available to us involving Dan (Houston) to ensure we flushed out all opportunities and seek the best deal before we finalised and agreed upon anything."

The Power hoped that a delay would potentially squeeze more out of Gold Coast and Collingwood.

Port Adelaide is expected to use pick 13 to pursue another move – either up or down the order of next month's national draft.
