Geelong coach Chris Scott has been hit with a suspended $10,000 fine for his role in the quarter-time altercation with several Brisbane players in Round 2.
Lions duo Lachie Neale and Harris Andrews were involved in the heated exchange, with the AFL putting forward a 'please explain' to Scott on Monday.
According to 7 News' Tom Browne, Scott has received a $10,000 fine by the league that will be suspended for the time being.
AFL operations boss Steve Hocking said members of the organisation, particularly coaches, must lead by example.
“Everyone involved in Australian Football has a responsibility to demonstrate respect towards each other at all times – and that includes coaches towards players and players towards coaches,” he said, per K Rock.
“We can never underestimate the impact of the actions of coaches and players at AFL level on all levels of the game.
“I would like to make it clear that if a similar incident occurs, there will be consequences.”
Following Geelong's win over the Lions last Friday, Scott said there wasn't too much to discuss in regards to the incident.
“I was walking onto the ground and Lachie Neale just said to me something like — I couldn’t understand exactly what he said — but something about Gary Rohan,” Scott said.
“And I said, ‘I’m happy to have the conversation with you if you like. I’ve seen the vision and I’m comfortable with it.’
“I suspect he didn’t hear all of that. That’s all that was said.
“I think a few of them, they weren’t paying me compliments. I didn’t say anything after that.”
