Geelong is creeping closer to completing its list changes following a disappointing 2023 season, delisting young midfielder Flynn Kroeger on Friday.

Kroeger began his days in blue and white hoops after being drafted to the Cattery with the 48th pick of the 2021 AFL Draft.

However, across the course of his two seasons in the Pivot City, the Eastern Ranges product failed to feature for Chris Scott's senior side, with a knee complaint in his rookie season keeping the speedy ball-winner to just three total VFL appearances.

The Cats confirmed that Kroeger would not be back next season, with the 20-year-old joining Jonathon Ceglar (retirement), Sam Menegola (delisted), Esava Ratugolea (trade), Osca Riccardi (delisted), Sam Simpson (delisted), Isaac Smith (retired) and Cooper Whyte (delisted) in making tracks from Kardinia Park this off-season.

In a brief statement released by the club, Geelong list boss Andrew Mackie wished to pay thanks to Kroeger's efforts during his time with the club.

"Flynn is a quality young man and we have enjoyed having him part of our playing squad for the past two seasons and we wish him all the best in his next step," Mackie said.

Meanwhile, fellow Cats midfielder Mitch Hardie received brighter news, with the Woodville-West Torrens product inking a one-year deal to extend his time in blue and white.

"After joining via the mid-season draft and spending just over four months at the club, we look forward to seeing Mitch continue to develop, learn and improve in 2024 with a full pre-season under his belt," Mackie added.

At present, Oscar Murdoch remains the only Cats in contractual limbo ahead of November's national draft, with the 19-year-old defender still to learn his fate.

Geelong will head to next month's draft armed with picks 8, 25, 76, 87 and 94.

The two-day event is set to commence on November 20 at Marvel Stadium.
