“Michael is an impressive sporting talent who worked diligently on his game to transition from basketball to football. He was popular amongst his teammates and we wish him all the best in his future sporting endeavours,” Hocking said.
Michael Luxford has been informed that he won't be on Geelong's list in 2017.
The 21-year-old joined the Cats as a rookie at the end of 2013, but the youngster had to wait until 2015 to make his senior debut.
Luxford's first game as a Cat was in Round 10, 2015, although he only made one more AFL appearance, and played 46 times in the VFL.
Geelong general manager Steve Hocking thanked Luxford for his services at the Cats.
“Michael is an impressive sporting talent who worked diligently on his game to transition from basketball to football. He was popular amongst his teammates and we wish him all the best in his future sporting endeavours,” Hocking said.
