Geelong list manager Stephen Wells says Tim Kelly is worth more than two first-round picks as the stakes for the star midfielder continue to rise.
“Tim is worth more than that,” Wells said at Marvel Stadium on Monday.
Kelly wants to head home to the west coast meaning that this is essentially a two-horse race.
West coast has picks 13, 22 and 31 in this year’s draft but commentators say that to get this done they may have to throw a future pick into the deal.
Kelly nominated the Eagles as his preferred destination, but Freemantle will likely throw the kitchen sink at Geelong for a chance the forward who finished top five in the Brownlow race this year, tallying 24 points.
Freemantle has pick 6 in the draft and could get pick 5 from St Kilda for Brad Hill, giving them a tempting offer to sell to Geelong.
