This week's Rookie Rankings has seen the competition for top five spots heat up significantly, with two new contenders named and a heap of honourable mentions leading to a tight race.
The top spot in our rankings has been claimed by a Dockers youngster, while a Bulldogs wingman and a Power youngster have broken through to earn spots.
Last week's leader has fallen two places in the process, with an injury to a young Demon also causing a drop.
Melbourne's Harvey Langford, Richmond's Luke Trainor and St Kilda's Max Hall are among this week's honourable mentions, with all three right on the cusp of moving into our Rookie Rankings.
Selection Criteria: Zero Hanger's Rookie Rankings ONLY consider players who have made their debut this season. Other players who may still be eligible for a Rising Star nomination but have already made their debut before the 2025 season will not be considered. I.e. Rising Star eligible players such as Nate Caddy, Dan Curtin and Connor O'Sullivan are ineligible, having already played an AFL match before Opening Round, 2025. Suspension does not make a player ineligible for our Rookie Rankings.
Round 3 Honourable Mentions:
Isaiah Dudley (Fremantle) - Two goals, 10 disposals
Luke Trainor (Richmond) - 18 disposals, six marks, seven contested possessions
Sid Draper (Adelaide) - Seven disposals, two goals
Max Hall (St Kilda) - 18 disposals, eight marks, two goals
Harvey Langford (Melbourne) - 26 disposals, one goal, 15 contested possessions
Archer Reid (West Coast) - Eight disposals, five marks, two goals
The Power wingman was sensational in his second game, despite Port Adelaide falling to Essendon on Thursday night.
Moraes looked comfortable in his first full game at the top level, collecting 27 disposals, seven marks and over 400 metres gained while using the ball at 85 per cent efficiency.
His strong aerobic capacity was on full display against the Bombers, with Moraes covering the ground to be a key conduit in the Power's ball movement.
The performance followed a 17-disposal debut that saw Moraes start as the tactical sub, with the Eastern Ranges product earning fifth spot in our rankings after just two matches.
Saturday's contest against the Suns was short-lived for the Gippsland product, who suffered a knee injury in the opening term of the eventual defeat.
Lindsay was subbed out of the game midway through the first quarter after recording two disposals, but thankfully has avoided a significant setback.
The teenager is unlikely to suit up in Friday's matchup with Geelong but remains in contention to see out the season and add to his impressive start at AFL level.
A week or two on the sidelines could see Lindsay drop further in our rankings, however, his form to date suggests he'll be back near the top in no time.
The Lions' father-son selection booted a game-changing goal in the third term of Brisbane's eventual nine-point win over Geelong, with the reigning premiers kicking six of the next seven majors after the midfielder's long-range conversion.
The major added to another performance of promise for Ashcroft despite it being his quietest outing yet in the top flight, amassing a dozen touches at 50 per cent efficiency.
Having held top spot before the weekend, Ashcroft drops two places mostly due to the form of others, with his strong opening two matches keeping him on the podium.
A chance to move back up our rankings will come on Saturday when Brisbane face Richmond at the MCG for Round 4.
A sensational performance from Davidson on Friday night goes down as the top display of any player eligible for our Rookie Rankings.
The Bulldogs wingman was arguably best afield in the win over Carlton, collecting 31 disposals, 10 marks, seven contested possessions and 639 metres gained in a breakout performance.
The Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal winner, who was on the fringes of our top five after his first two games, now looms as a true rankings contender for the season ahead.
He shoots into second and narrowly misses out on pole position, which is sure to be in reaching distance this weekend when the Dogs face Fremantle.
Reid earns a move to the top of our Rookie Rankings off the back of an impressive first Western Derby for the Dockers.
The Pick 17 selection was lively in the front half for Fremantle, recording 10 score involvements and two goal assists from his 19 disposals, as well as five tackles - three of which came inside 50.
The performance was arguably Reid's best at AFL level, despite his four-goal bonanza against Geelong in Round 1, with the pair of efforts from the midfield-forward combining to have Reid placed atop our rankings.
A big matchup will come on Sunday when Reid and Fremantle go up against the Western Bulldogs, who are home to second-place rookie Sam Davidson.
