A season-ending ankle injury hasn't stopped first-round pick Campbell Chesser from extending his time at West Coast until the end of the 2025 season.
The 19-year-old midfielder has added an extra two years to his original contract, and says he's "really happy" to stay at the club.
“It’s a good place to be at the moment and we’re all really focused on our development, and I think the next few years are going to be really exciting," he told the club's website.
Recruited with Pick 14 in the 2021 National Draft, Chesser played his COVID-impinged draft season with Sandringham after moving down from Albury.
His commitment to the Eagles was made clear when he spent his Christmas in quarantine to make day one of the pre-season, due to Western Australia's well-publicised border policy.
Chesser's impressive first AFL pre-season was kyboshed by a season-wrecker of an ankle injury suffered in a practice match with Fremantle, which ruined hopes of a Round 1 debut.
It's an injury that's seen Chesser moved to the club's inactive list to undertake a lengthy rehab program, which he says is "tracking really well".
“I think I’ll be running, maybe on the Alter-G (treadmill) in three-to-four weeks hopefully at this stage," said Chesser.
West Coast have put a line through Chesser's 2022 season, with the hope of having the midfielder cherry-ripe for 2023.
