Brisbane coach Chris Fagan is unsure if star forward Kai Lohmann will overcome a repeat ankle injury in time for Round 4, but is confident the setback is not major.

Lohmann came from the ground late in the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury, a potential repeat that left the young talent sidelined against West Coast in Round 2.

The initial ankle injury occurred in Round 1 against Sydney in the opening term, following a tackle from Sydney's Matthew Roberts.

Feared to be a more severe injury, Lohmann fortunately avoided a long-term setback, however could be in strife to play against Richmond after "rolling" the same foot.

"He had a little incident just before he came off. So I don't know whether he'll be okay next week or not, to be honest, at this stage," Fagan said.

"Hopefully he is (okay), because he's not too bad, but I think he just rolled over again, and he couldn't run all that well.

"And as it turned out, Brucey Reville came on him on the ground and made a bit of a difference, so that was good."

Super sub Reville sure did make an immediate impact, assisting a goal before later receiving a handball and unloading a bomb from the 50-metre arc to put the Lions in front for the first time all game.

Fagan said Reville made a "real difference" when the opportunity was presented.

"One of the reasons we had him as a sub tonight, he played okay last week, but we just knew that it was going to be a bit wet and he could penetrate with his kick," Fagan said.

"And that's what he did. I never thought about it that way (Reville as a game-changer), but it certainly got the crowd involved. They love him.

"I thought our crowd was brilliant tonight. They helped to get us over the line. So salute all the people that were here supporting us, but yeah, no, he did make a real difference when he came on."

The Lions take on Richmond in Round 4 in a prime opportunity to continue an undefeated start to their premiership defence.
