A Western Bulldogs utility is reportedly weighing his options for next season after receiving sparse senior opportunities with the Dogs.
Buku Khamis is understood to be pondering his playing future after being afforded just one AFL game this season following a head-turning VFL campaign with Footscray.
With the versatile Rory Lobb crossing over from Fremantle last year, the presence of burgeoning youngster Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, and the solidified spot held by key-position goalkicker Aaron Naughton in Luke Beveridge's forward sector, Khamis is understood to be contemplating his options.
According to AFL Media's Josh Gabelich, the 23-year-old is taking his time considering his options despite the Bulldogs having apparently tabled a contract to the forward, with 'multiple clubs' thought to have enquired about his availability this off-season.
"The Western Bulldogs are waiting to see (if he takes that), but he's weighing up some options," Gabelich told SEN on Thursday.
"I'm told that Collingwood has shown a little bit of interest, which if you think back to last year what they did with even a Billy Frampton … they've been really good at identifying roles.
"I think North Melbourne have shown some interest as well. He's got a decision to make across the coming weeks."
Khamis booted 41 majors throughout 18 VFL games in 2023, demonstrating his forward craft and evident athleticism.
The Western Jets graduate has played ten games across three seasons for the Western Bulldogs after being nabbed in 2019 as a Category B rookie hailing from Sudan.
To this point in the off-season, defender Tim O'Brien, midfielder Robbie McComb, forward Mitch Hannan, and untried youngster Cody Raak have been axed by the Bulldogs, not receiving contracts for the 2024 campaign after the club fell short of the finals this year.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday afternoon, out-of-favour ruckman Jordon Sweet officially requested a trade away from the Kennel, nominating Port Adelaide as his destination club of choice.
The 2023 trade period commences on October 9, with the first night of the National Draft pencilled in for November 20.
