Collingwood facing battle to retain out-of-contract stars

AFL Nation'Mitch Cleary says Collingwood are going to struggle to retain all of their off-contract stars next season.

Darcy Moore, Brodie Grundy and Jordan de Goey are all set for big pay days when their deals expire at the end of 2020, while Mason Cox and Scott Pendlebury also come out of contract.

The Bulldogs have already reportedly been linked to Moore and Grundy has admitted the lure of returning to South Australian is something he will weigh up.

Cleary believes there is every chance one of the Pies will move clubs.

“Next year, Darcy Moore, Brodie Grundy, Jordan de Goey, Mason Cox and Scott Pendlebury (are out of contract),” Cleary told AFL Nation.

“They’ve already started to manoeuvre things. Adam Treloar has been pushed out by three years. He’s going to be 32 by the end of that deal. Then you’ve got Steele Sidebottom and these guys getting pushed out so they’re already worried the Pies.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if one falls out. We’ve already linked Darcy Moore to the Dogs, but I’m sure the Grundy talk to the Crows will continue to heat up next season.

“The talk is (Brayden Sier) is going to re-sign at the Pies so that’s another one they’re going to have to fit in.”
