Collingwood midfielder Brayden Sier has been delisted by the Magpies, who also bid farewell to retiring forward Josh Thomas.

Jay Rantall and Isaac Chugg have also been cut from the Pies list, with Chugg set to be re-drafted as a rookie. Rantall played four games for Collingwood.

Sier was drafted with the Pies' Pick 32 at the 2015 National Draft and played his best football during the 2018 season. He averaged 19.5 disposals and 4.2 inside 50s across a career-best 12 games. He managed just seven games in 2021.

Thomas, who played 123 games for Collingwood over the course of seven seasons, has announced his retirement from football.

"The last two months has given me time to reflect and, after careful consideration, I believe the right decision has emerged," Thomas said in a statement.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to reach the end of my career and be genuinely content with my time in the game.

"To have pulled on the black-and-white stripes over 100 times has been a tremendous privilege and something that I will hold dearly for the rest of my life. I will especially cherish the lifelong friendships that I have made over the last 12 years.

"I would like to thank the club for giving me the chance to live out my childhood dream. I also want to thank the Collingwood army – you are why playing for this great club is so special. I will always be proud to have worn the Collingwood jumper and leave with nothing but gratitude and fond memories."

Since testing positive for a banned substance in 2015 and serving a two-year suspension, the 30-year-old has gone on to have a productive Collingwood career. Thomas' best season came during 2018 when he averaged 16.6 disposals and 1.5 goals per game.

Graham Wright, Magpies GM of Football, expressed his gratitude for Thomas' service to the club.

"'JT' should be proud of his career, which spanned 12 years," Wright said.

"He was a very popular team-mate, a no-fuss character who carried himself with quiet dignity. Everyone at Collingwood wishes him well and believes that he has a lot to look forward to in life."

Wright also thanked Sier and Rantall for their contribution to the club.

“We thank ‘Bear’ and Jay for playing a role in our program," Wright said.

"They wrote themselves into the Collingwood story and will always be welcome. We wish them all the best for the next phases of their careers."
