2010 Premiership Magpie Dane Swan will once again pull on the black and white in 2025, with the AFL Hall of Fame inductee set to represent the Oakleigh District Football and Netball Club in a marquee game against Silvan on June 14.

The Melbourne-based club currently play in the third division of the Eastern Football and Netball League and are coming off a solid season which had them finish fifth in the 10-team league.

Oakleigh will be hoping that the brief addition of Swan will help in their efforts to gain promotion back into division two - a division they were previously relegated from in 2022.

The mid-season outing will be Swan's last of three appearances for 2025 and will follow his April 26 game for the Milawa Demons in the Ovens and King Football and Netball League and a late May stint with Western Football Netball League outfit Point Cook.

Despite his status as one of the elites, the former Brownlow medallist is no stranger to the rigours of local football, acting as somewhat of a 'gun for hire' over recent times.

Swan is one of numerous ex-pros who appear in marquee local fixtures for a set fee, a gimmick designed to generate local/regional football interest and income.

The 41-year-old was last seen playing for the South Broken Hill Kangaroos in June of last year, where club president Michael Purcell estimated the expenses to be in excess of $10,000.

"It's an unbelievable investment, the support that we got and just going through the figures it's going to be very hard to top" Purcell said, via the ABC.

In events such as these, most of the revenue generated derives from the raffling and auctioning of the player's signed playing gear and memorabilia.

Other ex-elites who have participated in similar events over the years include: Jason Akermanis, Brendan Fevola, Stephen Milne and Mitch Robinson.
