Collingwood fans can breathe a sigh of relief ahead of Saturday's grand final, with no player charged by the AFL's Match Review Officer from Friday's one-point preliminary final win over GWS.

After a well-documented and highly emotional aftermath to their last final that saw Brayden Maynard referred directly to the Tribunal only to be cleared to face the Giants a fortnight later, all 23 from this week's win are in the clear.

Attention had turned to second-year sensation Nick Daicos following a tackle on Brent Daniels that left the Giants forward requiring a head injury assessment, however the Brownlow Medal contender has no case to answer.

The tackle on Daniels was also impacted by Scott Pendlebury holding his opponent's right arm as Daicos drove the force of the tackle, which was not also viewed to be excessive.

The MRO cited no player from either Collingwood or GWS in their findings on Saturday afternoon in what will be a relief for Daicos and co ahead of the grand final.

The Magpies will be preparing to make at least one change for Saturday's clash against either Brisbane or Carlton after key forward Dan McStay was ruled out of the match with a knee injury.

The third-quarter MCL sprain has led to the heartbreak story of the 2023 grand final, while concurrently opening up a spot in Craig McRae's side for a fringe Magpie to earn a recall.

The Magpies will have veteran midfielder Taylor Adams put to the test to prove his fitness over the coming days after he was ruled out of Friday's preliminary final with a hamstring injury.
