Three-time Brisbane premiership coach Leigh Matthews and Collingwood great Peter Moore have been unveiled as the premiership cup presenters for the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

The pair were confirmed for the role on Wednesday, with Matthews and Moore to hand over the cup to the premiership captain and coach of Brisbane or Collingwood respectively.

Matthews' potential return to the dais will come 20 years on from the Lions' last premiership win, where he coached the Queensland club to its third straight flag with a win over the Magpies.

The AFL Legend inductee coached Brisbane for a decade between 1999-2008, three years after departing as Collingwood's coach following a premiership-winning 10-year stint with the Magpies.

"Playing in a Grand Final is a special achievement for any club and I'm looking forward to the contest on Saturday," Matthews said in a statement provided by the Lions.

"I've been involved in 12 grand finals as a player and coach, but this would be a special opportunity and I'm honoured that the Lions have asked me to play a role."

Moore, a two-time Brownlow Medal winner, will hand the premiership cup over to his son, Darcy, and Collingwood coach Craig McRae in the event of a Collingwood win.

The Hall of Fame member played 249 games in the black and white between 1974-1982, and would play in five grand finals over his career.

"It's a massive thrill and it's a great honour that the Club has asked me to do it," Moore said.

"Obviously me not winning one (Grand Final), I played in five for four losses and a draw all for Collingwood so to get the opportunity to present the Cup to Darce will be fantastic."

West Coast champion Chris Judd (Norm Smith Medal) and former Geelong and Essendon coach Mark Thompson (Jock McHale Medal) will also hand over top honours during the post-match celebrations on Saturday.
