Collingwood star Jordan De Goey's groin issue has forced him to be pulled from the Magpies' side to face Richmond on Sunday.

De Goey underwent and failed a fitness test on Saturday, leading the reigning premiers to make a change to their Round 20 squad.

The Magpies confirmed De Goey will come out of their side, with speedy forward Joe Richards named in his place.

"Jordan De Goey will miss tomorrow's Round 20 match against Richmond due to a groin issue. Joe Richards comes into the team," a club post confirmed.

"Jordy pulled up sore and was unable to pass a fitness test today. He will have treatment over the coming days and is expected to return to training next week."

Groin and abdominal issues keep De Goey out of action for five weeks, with the star Magpie returning in Round 16 and playing every game since.

The change is the sixth for the Magpies ahead of their meeting with the Tigers, with Reef McInnes (omitted), Nathan Kreuger (concussion), Lachlan Sullivan (omitted) and Oleg Markov (personal season) all making way from the side that fell to Hawthorn last week.

Wil Parker, Lachie Schultz, Mason Cox, Jack Bytel and Harvey Harrison have all come into Craig McRae's side.

Collingwood host Richmond at the MCG on Sunday at 1:10pm (AEST).
