Collingwood footy boss Geoff Walsh has confirmed the availability of a host of key players ahead of the team's round six clash with Brisbane.
The Pies have been marred with injuries in 2018, and Ben Reid, James Aish, Brayden Maynard and Brodie Grundy added to their woes on the weekend.
Speaking on SEN Breakfast this morning, Walsh gave an update on the following players' health:
Brodie Grundy - โHe is fine and he will play.โ
Taylor Adams - โHe will be available for selection. He probably didnโt miss by too much, with the games so close together between Essendon and Richmond, there wasnโt a great deal of opportunity between those two games to really get much more improvement into him. He will certainly be available this week.โ
Darcy Moore - โDarcy is available. Itโs a pretty good list of guys who are coming back, just where they land in terms of VFL/AFL will be a matter of selection.โ
Jamie Elliott - โFull training this week and I reckon he will be putting his hand up for selection the following week.โ
Daniel Wells - โWellsy has played two games in the VFL, one was in a torrential downpour, which really didnโt give much guide for anyone. He will play again in the VFL this week, so from there his condition should be approaching AFL standard.โ
Levi Greenwood - "Levi will play in the VFL because he has been on the sidelines for some months.โ
Travis Varcoe and Ben Crocker - โVarcoe and Ben Crocker were both boys who were a bit sore after the Essendon game. Probably with the full seven days were guys that could have come up. Theyโre both available for selection as well.โ
James Aish - โHe has been braced for a month. Itโs terrible for James because he had a great preseason and is probably in career best form. Itโs really heartbreaking for him. He will be braced for a month, we will see if that sticks in terms of the structure around the knee. If that works, then the brace will continue and there wonโt be surgery required. The month signpost will tell us whether this conservative treatment works. Itโs still multi-weeks. If the brace works and everything went to plan, it might be 10-12 weeks to get him back.โ
Alex Fasolo - โAlex is in good form and he has been discussed. He has been not far away the last couple of games. He has been putting his hand up.โ
Collingwood travel to the Gabba to take on Brisbane this Sunday at 4:40pm.
