Reports have emerged that out-of-contract Collingwood star Jordan De Goey is seeking a $1 million per season deal this off-season.

But the Herald Sun's Jon Ralph believes the forward is "woefully overrated" even on his current $800,000-a-season salary.

The 24-year old kicked a total of 14 goals this season and reportedly isn't grasping strong interest with other clubs at his mooted price point.

De Goey, who is set to face court over indecent assault charges on October 30th, has rbeen linked to Essendon and Carlton, but there have been suggestions that they're being used to drive up his price tag.

According to Ralph, De Goey's contract demands simply don't measure up to his output.

“Let’s face it, on his current $800,000-a-year contract, he is woefully overrated,” Ralph told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

“Collingwood will have their Copeland Trophy up in the hub tomorrow (Tuesday) night, you’d think for the sixth year in a row he wouldn’t finish anywhere near top five. His single top finish is a top eight finish in 2018.

“Carlton were nonplussed today about reports they were rabidly keen on Jordan De Goey. Clearly Essendon is very much the same.

“Carlton needs exactly the type of player like Jordan De Goey - that attacking half-forward who can go into the midfield, who can kick goals, who can put on forward pressure at his very best.

“So the fact they’re not interested in him shows, I believe, that they feel they were being used as a stalking horse from his father and camp to drive up his price.”
