Collingwood veteran Taylor Adams has lodged a trade request to become a Sydney Swans player from 2024.
Adams emerged as a shock trade figure on Friday after it was revealed the former Giants midfielder was weighing up a return to New South Wales via a trade to the Swans.
The 30-year-old is contracted with the Magpies for the next 12 months, with his desire for more midfield minutes understood to be a driving factor in the potential switch.
Sydney have already added Melbourne onballer James Jordon to their list via free agency and are also in the running to secure the signature of a second Demon in former Collingwood best and fairest winner Brodie Grundy.
Adams and Grundy could now reunite in the red and white over the coming weeks, with the club confirming on Sunday that the senior Magpie has informed teammates and the club that he is seeking a trade to the Swans.
"Collingwood can confirm Taylor Adams has requested a trade to the Sydney Swans in the upcoming Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period," a club statement read.
"Taylor is contracted until the end of 2024 and is a required player and leader.
"The Club will discuss the request with Sydney."
The Age has reported that Sydney have tabled Adams a three-year deal.
Having joined the Magpies at the end of the 2013 season from GWS in a trade that saw premiership Collingwood flanker Heath Shaw head the other way, Adams will join his third club once the Victorian side gives him the green light to head north.
Adams has played 175 games for Collingwood and would claim All-Australian and best and fairest honours in 2020.
Sydney currently hold Picks 11, 23, 31, 44 and 52 for next month's National Draft as well as their entire hand of selections for the 2024 count.
The Swans are also set to acquire Fremantle free agent Joel Hamling, who won't cost the club any trade capital.
