Collingwood forward Brody Mihocek has received a $3000 fine for a rough conduct charge sustained from Saturday night's semi-final win over Fremantle.
The incident in question occurred in the second quarter of the Magpies' 20-point win over Fremantle, with Docker Brandon Walker also involved.
It was of the Match Review Officer's view that Mihocek's actions were deemed to be graded as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in the sanction.
A first offence charge, Mihocek can see the fine reduced to $2000 with an early plea, or look to have the charge removed in an appeal at the AFL Tribunal.
Should the Magpies spearhead opt for the latter, he'd join Lion Jarrod Berry in looking to fight his case against the AFL.
Brisbane confirmed on Sunday evening that the club have decided to challenge the MRO's charge of making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region of Melbourne's Clayton Oliver on Friday night.
Berry was deemed to have made intentional conduct, high contact and low impact, resulting in the one-game suspension.
In the Lions' upcoming challenge at the Tribunal, their argument is likely to lean on having the conduct view lowered to 'careless' rather than 'intentional', which would result in a fine.
Should Berry be successful at the AFL Tribunal, the Lions midfielder will be free to face Geelong in Friday night's preliminary final at the MCG.
Having avoided suspension for this rough conduct charge, Mihocek is free to play against Sydney in his side's final on Saturday afternoon at the SCG.
