A contracted Demon has been dubbed "a player of interest" for the Adelaide Crows, who are preparing to offload wantaway forward Shane McAdam to Melbourne this off-season.
McAdam's trade request was officially confirmed by the Crows on Thursday afternoon, with Adelaide and Melbourne now expected to facilitate an agreement during October's player exchange period.
Now, the challenge for the two parties will be deciding on the appropriate trade capital going back to West Lakes.
While draft selections represent the typical form of recompense, the Crows are 'not necessarily' hunting picks. Rather, Melbourne utility Harrison Petty is reportedly 'of interest' to Adelaide, according to Herald Sun journalist Jay Clark via Triple M Rush Hour.
Petty, who is sidelined for the remainder of this season by a horribly-timed foot injury, obviously isn't among the Demons' finals outfit, as Melbourne's forward line struggled mightily against the Magpies during last weekend's qualifying final.
Clark said that while the Crows are apparently after a 'mature player' in the mould of Petty, the Demons would likely be 'very reluctant' to part with the 23-year-old.
"Melbourne have got some work to do in the trade period as well, because Shane McAdam, an Adelaide Crow, has officially requested a trade to the Demons," Clark started.
"He's an exciting playmaker, will play in the forward half, [he] will combine with Kade Chandler and Kysaiah Pickett, he's 28, so he's absolutely ready to go.
"I think we said last week the Crows want a mature player, someone who's ready to go, not necessarily a draft pick. I understand Harrison Petty is a player of interest.
"The Demons would be very reluctant to let go of him."
Petty is a contracted Melbourne player for a further two seasons, before he is slated to enter unrestricted free agency in 2025.
While the Norwood product appears a part of Melbourne's long-term plans, the likes of Adam Tomlinson, who is reportedly expected to depart Casey Fields, and James Harmes, who is understood to potentially have four clubs vying for his services, appear to be planning moves out the Dees' door this year.
This year's exchange space opens on October 9, following free agency's commencement on October 6.
