Contracted Giant Xavier O'Halloran is said to be garnering interest from the Western Bulldogs, the club closest to home for the 24-year-old.

O'Halloran has one year remaining on a deal with GWS but has been unable to earn a majority of midfield minutes with the club, perking the ears of rival clubs looking to add midfield depth.

AFL reporter Cal Twomey disclosed the developing story Wednesday on Gettable ahead of the 2024 AFL Grand Final, highlighting his ties to League club Western Jets, where O'Halloran was drafted from.

The Western Bulldogs are likely to be seeking a midfielder of O'Halloran's calibre, being a predominantly outside type to potentially replace outgoing winger Bailey Smith.

They are also potentially losing Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel and Riley Garcia, all of whom they would be compensated for.

Taken with Pick 22 of the 2018 National Draft, O'Halloran has played 67 games with the Giants, many as the activated substitute, including this season.

He played a career-best 19 matches this year, was the sub in both finals, and averaged just 11 disposals and two marks.

He boasts some impressive games and moments at AFL level, but has been somewhat starved of opportunity playing amongst a star-studded lineup for most of his career.

A move for the midfielder will see the Bulldogs give up something, holding Picks 32 and 44 for the upcoming National Draft.

They will likely add to their draft capital in the lead-up to November, bolstered by the outgoing names mentioned above, but would also prefer to not give up much for O'Halloran, being an unproven prospect yet to play out a season of 20 matches or more.
