Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps has revealed his intentions to spend more time up forward this season in a bid to hit the scoreboard more regularly.
The gun ball winner booted 11 goals for the Blues last season to finish fifth in the club's goal kicking tally.
And he is keen to boost that number as Brendan Bolton's team looks to improve on their two-win campaign.
“I’ve been doing a bit of forward craft, I want to get up forward a bit more this year, especially with the young cut we got coming through the midfield,” Cripps told SEN’s Whateley.
“They’re getting ready to shoulder the load in there and play some good footy.
“So it’s probably the goal kicking and the craft element up forward is something I’ve been working on.”
The 23-year old was hoping to double his goal count from last season, which would put him in the same class as star midfielders such as Patrick Dangerfield, Stephen Coniglio and Dayne Zorko.
“I’d like to kick a goal a game,” Cripps said.
“I didn’t quite make the most of it last year.
“I’d like to get a goal a game but I’ll just do whatever the team needs me to do.”
Cripps predicted that he would spend nearly a third of his time on the ground
in the forward line.
“(I’ll spend) maybe 20 or 30 per cent up forward,” he said.
“I’ll probably rest more up there instead of going to the bench, that’ll probably be the luxury of it.”
