The Adelaide Football Club has announced that a pair of players of their AFLW roster have tested positive to Covid-19 ahead of the resumption of their pre-season training period.

Within an official statement released on Monday evening, the Crows revealed that the unnamed duo are currently isolating away from the remainder of the squad as per government guidelines.

Although the two infected players are said to be in "good health", they will face a delayed return to the fold with their fellow teammates hitting the track for the first time since Christmas on Monday.

Both names are reported to be fully vaccinated and will remain in contention for Round 1 selection.

Despite 842 new cases being recorded in South Australia to commence the week, Adelaide is still expected to make the flight west to face Fremantle on January 8.

This latest Covid related hurdle for the Crows comes in the wake of the league's announcement that should any of the 14 teams within the competition prove unable to field 21 fit players each week, contests face the prospect of postponement or cancellation.

With this ominous warning holding the potential to see another summer of football face scheduling issues, News Corp has claimed that Adelaide's staff have been told to assess the risk attached to each of their out-of-home visits given the state remains below the 90 per cent mark for double vaccinations.

The Crows are currently fixtures to play their first game on home soil in Round 2 when they face the Kangaroos on Sunday, January 16.
